Front Door Process

Understanding The Front Door Services

The Front Door is how OPWDD helps you find the services you need and want. When you enter, a special planning process starts. This process helps you learn about different service options that fit your needs and wishes. You will also have the chance to create your own service plan or assist a family member or loved one as they create theirs.

The Front Door understands that, as a person with developmental disabilities, you have the right to:

  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Grow as a person
  • Take part in your community
  • Live in the home you choose

The Front Door staff will help you figure out if you can get services from OPWDD. They will work with you to identify your needs, goals, and preferences and help you create a plan to get those services.

How do I start?

You can contact the OPWDD Infoline by calling 866-946-9733. Ask the operator to connect you to your local Front Door Office. Just tell them which county you live in. You can also check out the Front Door modules below to learn how to access services and find out what services are available.

The first step to getting help is figuring out if you qualify. Once you know you are eligible, you can start the planning process. There are many types of support and service options available. These include help to live independently at home or with others, job opportunities, day programs, and services for children.
