Emergency Preparedness Day June 6, 2024

Dear Families,

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and our ability to pivot to remote learning, New York City Public Schools are preparing for a Citywide Pivot to Remote Simulation on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

In light of the remote professional development day for staff on June 6, DIIT has scheduled this activity for under an hour in the morning. Additionally, since this is also a non-attendance day for students, we are requesting voluntary participation from families to support NYCPS emergency preparedness. Families can participate by helping their children log into their TeachHub account from home, simulating an actual pivot to remote day.

During this remote simulation, both staff and students will log into TeachHub and access NYCPS online applications during a scheduled time in the morning. This will allow our colleagues in the Division of Instruction and Information Technology (DIIT) to review the “load” this puts on the system (the number of users on at once and how that affects our systems).

On Thursday, June 6, school-based staff and students will log into Teachhub at the start times in the schedule below, and stay on until the end times. Students will be participating in a Virtual Field Trip at this time.

8:30 AM - 8:55 AM 276 Students
8:45 AM - 9:10 AM 188 and Clinton Students
9:00 AM - 9:25 AM 397, 361, 15, 281, 51, 340 Students

If you require a device for the remote day or your students' login, please reach out to me at [email protected], [email protected],  or through Remind. All devices must be returned to your student's school on June 10, 2024.

Best,
Melissa
